Why use Hydrocolloid?
Hydrocolloid dressings are made of elastic polymeric hydrogels, synthetic rubber, and adhesive materials (commonly carboxymethyl cellulose). This gel attaches firmly to the skin and can swell up to 12 times its size after absorbing exudate.
It is primarily used for chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers and venous ulcers, as well as acute wounds. Research shows healing time for donor sites treated with hydrocolloid is approximately 40% shorter than traditional methods.
How To Use & Remove
Step 1
Cleanse the wound and dry the surrounding skin.
Step 2
Compare size. Bandage should be 3/4" larger than wound. Trim if needed.
Step 3
Peel off backing paper and place dressing over wound.
Step 4
Remove outer film and gently smooth for full adhesion.
Convenient Removal:
Gently peel off the four corners. Gradually pull apart diagonally. If you feel a tearing sensation, rinse with clean water to assist removal.
